Steadfast and daring in his refusal to accept mediocrity in ministry, the Reverend Dr. Lee P. Washington has been Reid Temple A.M.E. Church's biblically-based and Holy Spirit-led Senior Pastor for 33 years. Guided by his pragmatic approach to ministry and a simple theme revealed to him through revelation, "Have Faith in God", church membership has grown from 300 to over 15,000 members spanning two campuses. Pastor Washington continues to outline a broad vision for the Reid Temple congregation based on the "Five E's": Evangelism, Education, Economics, Empowerment, and Expansion. Pastor Washington presently chairs the Board of Examiners for the Washington Conference of the A.M.E. Church, and is the author of Identifying Conflict Management Strategies in a Black Church.

Executive Minister, Reid Temple AME Church

The Reverend Matthew Lawrence Watley serves as the Executive Minister of Reid Temple AME Church under the dynamic leadership of Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington, Senior Pastor.  A Holy Spirit-filled, gifted preacher, lecturer and author, he is nationally and globally recognized as an innovative thinker and leader. In 2006 Rev. Watley took on the additional responsibility of becoming the Managing Minister of Reid Temple’s North Campus, and in 2015, Rev. Watley led the charge for the establishment of Reid Temple DC. Additionally, Rev. Watley is the founder of Power Lunch, a non-denominational noontime worship service.  On Wednesdays, Rev. Watley provides professionals working in the Washington D.C. metro area with dynamic preaching and sound biblical teaching. Rev. Watley holds a BA in Political Science, a Masters of Divinity from Howard University, and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Executive Leadership from George Washington University. Rev. Watley is married to Sis. Shawna, and they are the proud parents of Alexandra.

Glenn Dale, Reid Temple AME Church

Reverend Demetrius Price is a native Washingtonian born and raised in Southeast D.C. He was saved at the early age of 10, and began to get involved in youth ministry through stepping, drama, and the preached word. At the age of 14, Rev. Kevin Mincey recognized the call of preaching on Rev. Price’s life, and he began to mentor and equip him for this call to ministry, and in June 2005, Rev. Price was licensed as a minister of the Gospel. In 2012, Rev. Price was ordained in ministry, and continued to serve at Mount Sinai Baptist Church as the Youth Minister for five years. Currently, Rev. Price serves at Reid Temple AME Church as the Minister to Teens. He is married to his lovely wife, Sophia Price.






From Membership to Discipleship
REV. SHELETA FOMBY, Minister to Membership and Discipleship, Glenn Dale Campus, Reid Temple AME Church

The Reverend Sheleta Evette Fomby serves as the Director of Discipleship Development at Reid Temple AME Church, under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Lee P. Washington, and also serves as the Managing Minister of the Sunday evening worship service at Reid Temple’s Glenn Dale location. Rev. Fomby has earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, where she is currently pursuing her doctoral studies with a focus on leadership. Rev. Fomby is the founder of Sequoia Ministries, which is a nondenominational ministry dedicated to sharing the gospel and extending the love of Jesus Christ through clear and relevant biblical preaching and teaching, worship gatherings, and Christian fellowship. Rev. Fomby has been recognized as one of the emerging voices and preachers of this generation, and was recognized by the African American Pulpit Journal as one of the “20 to watch under 40”.

First Lady, Professor, School Superintendent, Author “When The Music Changes”

Dr. Elfreda Massie has over 40 years of experience in public school administration, curriculum development and human resources. In her work as a National Facilitator and Instructional Coach for the National Center for Education and the Economy in Washington, DC and as an Executive Coach with EdFuel, she specializes in coaching and training school district superintendents and principals. Dr. Massie received her doctorate in philosophy – with an emphasis in education policy, planning and administration – from the University of Maryland. She received a master's degree in Counseling from John Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Massie serves on the board of the Reid Temple Christian Academy in Glendale, Maryland. In addition to serving numerous educational organizations and nonprofits, Dr. Massie has also served on the boards of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC; BoysTown of Washington, DC and University Park Bethune Mays Christian Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina. Following the partial removal of a skull-based tumor in 2011, Dr. Massie has felt an urgent calling to minister to and encourage others to live full lives. She is the author of the book, When the Music Changes, an inspiring story of the healing power of family and faith.

Director of Philanthropy, Parkwood Entertainment, Author “The New One Percent”

Ivy McGregor is the innovative vision strategist and founder of TheNewOnePercent, a wealth impact network that demonstrates how the power of a few can make a world of positive impact for many. Additionally, Ms. McGregor is the Director of VIP, Philanthropy, and Corporate Relations for Parkwood Entertainment, the management company of Beyonce Knowles-Carter. In this role, Ms. McGregor oversees global partner programs and social, civic, and corporate engagements. With Beyonce’s latest project, Lemonade, Ms. McGregor directed worldwide VIP programs for the iconic Formation World Tour – one of the largest tours in history. Her life work is balanced between her profession, personal passions, and her faith. As such, Ms. McGregor – a licensed and ordained minister – also serves as the General Manager for Victory Grace Center, overseeing all business operations under the leadership of its dynamic Pastor, Dr. Jasmin ‘Jazz’ Sculark. Ms. McGregor is driven to empower and enhance global societies through service, education, and philanthropy by connecting people, creating impact, and causing lasting change!

President and CEO of Industrial Bank

Mr. Mitchell is a third generation banker with over thirty years experience. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Rutgers University in 1984, he began a full-time career with Industrial Bank. He continued his education in finance and graduated from the American Institute of Banking and the Marymount University Graduate School of Business. Mr. Mitchell was elected to the Board of Directors of Industrial Bank in 1990, and succeeded his father as President in 1993. In 1994, he engineered the Bank across state lines into Prince George’s County, Maryland. He is the immediate Past-Chairman of the National Bankers Association (NBA), is a member of the Independent Community Bankers of America Regulatory Review Committee, and has testified on a variety of community banking issues before several committees in the United States House of Representatives. Mr. Mitchell is passionately committed to communities less served by mainstream institutions and believes community based banks provide great under-recognized value.

Financial Educator, Entrepreneur, and Independent Financial Advisor

Ms. Evans-Motte is a financial educator, entrepreneur, and independent financial advisor with more than 20 years’ experience presenting financial seminars to faith-based organizations. She educates using biblically based stewardship concepts and shares financial tools and techniques to help put good stewardship and philanthropy into action. Ms. Evans-Motte received a B.S. in Accounting and a M.B.A. in Finance and Information Systems from the RHSSB, University of Maryland, College Park. She holds Series 7 and Series 66 securities licenses, and is a licensed insurance agent, and Registered Financial Consultant, RFC®. She earned a Certificate in Personal Financial Planning and is a Retirement Income Certified Professional, RICP®. Ms. Evans-Motte began her financial advisory firm in 2005 and provides comprehensive financial planning, business consulting, retirement planning, and investment management services for professionals, families, and businesses.

Ministerial Staff, Glenn Dale Campus, Reid Temple

In 2005, Rev. Johnson joined Reid Temple AME Church in Glendale, Maryland, under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Lee P. Washington, where she serves on the ministerial staff and in several other ministries. She accepted the call of God to preach in 2007 and by 2008 was licensed. In 2012, Rev. Johnson was ordained at Reid Temple. Rev. Johnson graduated from George Mason University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. During her seven-year tenure at Lockheed Martin, Rev. Johnson served as the Corporate Diversity Manager. In 2007, Rev. Johnson earned her master’s degree in business from John Hopkins University, and currently works for the federal government leading her agency’s workforce and organizational effectiveness strategies. In 2017, Rev. Johnson released her book, Is He Spiritual, where she shares wisdom and insight on how to navigate the difficulties of personal relationships from a Christian perspective.

President, Bowie State University

Dr. Mickey L. Burnim, the ninth president of Bowie State University, builds on more than 30 years of experience in higher education, including serving as the Chancellor at Elizabeth City State University, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at North Carolina Central University, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in the General Administration of the University of North Carolina, and as a staff economist at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. President Burnim's tenure at Bowie State, which began in September 2006, has been marked by a steady focus on enhancing academic programs, assuring fiscal integrity, and modernizing facilities to provide state-of-the-art learning environments. Under Dr. Burnim’s leadership, Bowie State has added eight new degree programs, a $71 million Fine and Performing Arts Center, a $42 million Student Center, and a $107 million Science, Mathematics and Nursing complex. In 2012, Bowie State became the first historically black institution in Maryland to house a business incubator, providing a platform for entrepreneurship on campus. An economist by training, Dr. Burnim holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of North Texas and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, all in economics. He has written papers and published several scholarly articles on labor economics and public finance. He is frequently called to speak on leadership issues in higher education.

Reverend Rod Hairston is a pastor, author, speaker, and coach to men from all walks of life. Quite simply, Pastor Hairston loves to help men win personally, relationally, professionally, and spiritually. For 14 seasons, Pastor Hairston served as a life coach and chaplain to the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, helping them to build a winning culture among front office executives, coaches, and players. Pastor Hairston has spoken in NFL chapels on more than 225 occasions. He has a way of connecting with men from all walks of life. His effectiveness in the locker room environment has extended to men's events including Iron Sharpens Iron, Gathering of Men, The Red Zone Men's Conference, Mighty Men of Valor, No Regrets Men's Conference, NCAA events, and corporate leadership gatherings. Pastor Hairston and his wife have been married for more than 25 years, and have four children.





The Call to Serve
Senior Pastor, Star of Bethlehem AME, Baltimore MD

Dr. Stanley Fuller is the Founder and Pastor of Fuller-Life Ministries in Baltimore City: He also serves as the Senior Pastor at the Star of Bethlehem AME, Baltimore MD, Prior to that he was the pastor of the Historic Grace Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Fuller is a Fellow and a distinguished graduate of the Graduate Theological Foundation, Oxford University (England) where he received his doctorate of ministry degree. Dr. Fuller focused on pastoral theology with an emphasis on excellence in ministry and congregational transformation. Dr. Fuller received a Master’s of Theology from the Ecumenical Institute at St. Mary’s Seminary in Maryland. Dr. Fuller received his Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. Dr. Fuller is married to Dr. Ann Lightner-Fuller and together they have four children and six grand children.




The Call to Serve
Pastor, Hemingway Memorial AME Church

Rev. Dr. Samuel E. Hayward, III, has served as pastor to a total of seven AME congregations during his 42 years of pastoral ministry, and currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Hemingway Memorial AME Church in District Heights, MD. As Pastor, he led St. James AMEC, Kinston, NC and Macedonia AMEC, Accomac, VA in building new sanctuaries. He assisted in establishing a new church (Bethlehem AMEC, Baltimore, MD); and nurtured and mentored more than 40 sons and daughters in Christian Ministry over the course of his ministerial career. Pastor Hayward has a particular gift of counseling ministers who are broken and in need of loving support. In addition to his pastoral leadership, Rev. Hayward has been an active leader in the AME Church in several areas of service. For many quadrennial, he has served as a delegate to the General Conference of the AME Church. He is a member of the Washington Conference Board of Trustees, Washington Conference Finance Committee, and the Washington Conference Board of Examiners. Finally, he served as Chief Secretary of the Virginia Annual Conference, AME Church for more than 15 years. Pastor Hayward completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Kittrell College, Hampton University, Trinity Theological Seminary, and the University of Miami where he received certification in Drug Abuse Counseling. I n 2012, Pastor Hayward was bestowed the Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by the Seminary of the Apostles of Norfolk, VA. Pastor Hayward is married to the love of his life, the Reverend Althea J. Hayward. Their union of more than 41 years has produced two daughters: Kimberly Hayward and the Reverend Kristina Hayward.
